In Memoriam: Robert Phillip Haire 

Robert Phillip Haire died Oct. 8, 2024. He was 88.  

He practiced law for over 50 years in Sylva, and a highlight of his legal career was as assistant majority counsel for the U.S. Senate Watergate Committee in 1973. Haire also served seven terms in the N.C. House of Representatives.

He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a bachelor’s degree in history and an LLB in Law. He was a member of NCAJ from 1981 to 2011.
