Ask Me How To Vote
Help Voters Cut Through the Confusion and Make Every Voice Heard This Election
Razor-thin margins will decide many elections this November, but confusion about recent changes to voter laws and regulations could discourage people from casting their votes. Voter advocacy organizations like the North Carolina Voter Project and You Can Vote advise that one of the most effective ways to help voters is to encourage them to make a plan to register and vote. And advocates strongly suggest casting votes before Election Day during the early voting period to avoid last-minute problems.
NCAJ aims to help members get involved this election season again this year with the Ask Me How to Vote campaign. We encourage members to rely on the State Board of Election website along with NC Voter Project and You Can Vote, both non-profit and non-partisan, as sources for registration and voting information to share with their clients, friends and family. NCAJ has also graphics for members to share on social media, a printable flyer to post in the office, specimen letters for mailing and a toolkit with communication tips and best practices.
At the You Can Vote website, you can find shareable tools and resources in English and Spanish, and concise information about
- Who can vote
- How to register
- What to bring to the polling place
- When to vote
- What candidates and Constitutional amendments are on the ballot, including a ballot builder tool that helps voters research candidates and questions in advance
- And the NC Voter Protection Hotline, where voters with questions and concerns can talk or text with an elections attorney
