In Memoriam: William Simpson

William Simpson died Nov. 24. He was 73.
He practiced law for 38 years, beginning as legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina, before moving to the Philadelphia Public Defender’s office. He then joined the law firm of Ferguson Stein Chambers Gresham & Sumter before moving to Tin Fulton Walker & Owen in 2012. He earned the Norman B. Smith Award from the ACLU-NC in 1994.
Simpson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. He was a member of NCAJ for 23 years.
