NC Mock Trial Seeks Volunteers for Gastonia Competition
With 2026 upon us, the new year offers an opportunity to help the North Carolina Mock Trial Program with the upcoming High School Mock Trial Competition for the Gastonia region. This year’s competition is being held in person on Saturday, Feb. 7 at the Gaston County Courthouse. Organizers are expecting 10 to 12 teams in the Gastonia region this year, an increase over last season, which means they will need lots of volunteers to serve as jurors/judges during the morning (9 a.m. to noon), afternoon (1-4 p.m.) and final rounds (3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.). These time slots include a brief orientation session for the volunteers, the trials themselves and then some time for the judges/jurors to provide brief feedback to the teams. This year the students are trying a criminal case. It should make for a very interesting fact pattern.
To volunteer, participants can complete the online form or contact Rachel Mosser with the time slots they would like to volunteer for.
