Misha Henley, NCAJ NEXT Leadership Program class of 2024
Misha Henley, is one of the 13 members of the NCAJ NEXT Leadership Program class of 2024. The program identifies the state’s emerging trial lawyer leaders.
Lives in: Greensboro
Law degree from: Elon University School of Law
Works as: Attorney at CR Legal Team, LLP
Legal association involvement: I am currently a member of the Auto Torts section of the NCAJ, along with the New Lawyers Division and the Women’s Caucus. In addition to the NCAJ I am also a member of the Greensboro Bar Association, The North Carolina Bar Association, and The American Association for Justice.
Why is the idea of civil justice important to you?
Civil justice has always been very important to me especially as a minority woman. Having a court system that works to protect individual rights and promote fairness is sometimes taken for granted. Having the ability to bring any injustice to light by using the court system is an amazing tool to help those who have faced any legal harm. I would see and hear stories about family members and persons in my community going through legal hardships and I saw firsthand how the civil justice system has helped those families find closure and seek redress for any wrongdoing. More importantly, the civil justice system gives those in need a voice to be heard.
What’s your vision for the future of NCAJ?
This program is already a great start in shaping the future of the NCAJ. I hope we continue to build on this momentum and keep the cycle of pouring into each other as a source of mentorship and guidance. While I am aware that the NCAJ is also very active with the affiliate organizations, I would like to see more joint programming as we tap into our national network. I also see the NCAJ continuing its growth and maintaining its spot as one of the largest trial lawyers associations in the U.S.
Away from work …
I love to travel! I like to explore new places, and try dishes from different cultures. I also enjoy playing tennis with my fiancé and going to sporting events. I’m an avid Boston Celtics fan and serious Pittsburgh Steelers fan. When I’m not traveling, playing tennis, or yelling at my TV when a game is on, I’m spending time with my miniature poodle Coco Chanel.
