Elon Awards McIntyre NCAJ Award

Elon University School of Law awarded the 2025 North Carolina Advocates for Justice Appellate and Trial Achievement Award to Marcella R. McIntyre, who graduated with the school’s class of 2025 on Dec. 12. The award recognizes a graduating student who has demonstrated a commitment to public service and excellence in trial and/or appellate advocacy skills.
A native of Fincastle, Virginia, McInyre earned a bachelor’s degree in history and theater from Roanoke College. Her activities while at Elon Law included Mock Trial Team, Moot Court Board, Guardian ad Litem for Alamance County, and a residency and summer internship at the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office
McIntyre plans to move to rural Ohio with her husband, raise their family, and serve the community in one of the local prosecutor’s offices.
“When I was a little girl, I was really into reading mystery books,” she said. “One day, someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I was going back and forth between wanting to be a lawyer and a detective. In that moment, I made up my mind that I wanted to be a lawyer. That has been my dream and my goal ever since. The older I got, the more I came to realize that practicing law was less of a choice and more of a calling.”
