Eminent Domain Section

The Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guides us as we work to educate the public, lawmakers, judges, and members of the bar on the complexities of eminent domain law to better serve our clients and the public. We provide a network of support to our advocate members. We collaborate on cases, provide amicus curiae briefs for vital issues on appeal, lobby the legislature and sponsor timely, informative CLEs. Our advocate members have won many victories, from the recent Map Act decisions, which required the payment of just compensation for rights illegally taken from thousands of N.C. residents, to the many decisions on the necessity of a valid public purpose.
