Disability Advocacy Section
Our section consists of knowledgeable professionals who provide legal representation to individuals pursuing or maintaining disability benefits through Title II or Title XVI of the Social Security Act, whether it be before the Social Security Administration or the federal courts. Additionally, our members assist with matters pertaining to retirement, dependent, and other benefits under the Social Security Act, as well as ancillary issues involving entitlement to benefits, such as workers’ compensation offset and overpayments. Our highly skilled members represent clients at administrative hearings with the SSA, but they also handle appeals of benefit denials before federal district and appellate courts. Our section provides a Fall Social Security Disability Continuing Legal Education (CLE), a section-specific listserv, and in-person networking events held throughout the state.
