Join the Disability Advocacy Section – Supporting Advocates for the Disabled
The Disability Advocacy Section (DAS) is comprised of knowledgeable and dedicated professionals who represent individuals seeking or maintaining disability benefits under Title II and Title XVI of the Social Security Act—whether before the Social Security Administration or in federal court.
Our nearly 150 members represent clients in a wide range of matters involving the Social Security Act, including disability, retirement, and dependent benefits, as well as other entitlements. They also assist clients with related issues such as workers’ compensation offsets, overpayments, and other ancillary matters arising under the Act.
Our members:
- Represent clients in SSA administrative hearings
- Handle appeals of benefit denials before federal district and appellate courts
Membership benefits include:
- Access to two discounted CLEs annually: a Social Security Disability CLE in the fall and a Section-specific CLE in the spring
- Participation in a Section-specific listserv for real-time collaboration and support
