David has practiced law for over 36 years and is a board-certified specialist in criminal law at Teddy Meekins & Talbert Law, PLLC

He is the Author of DWI Trial Notebook and DWI Playbook-a Trial Lawyer’s Guide to Defending a DWI Case in N.C. published by Lexis-Nexis. Teddy was honored with the Fred O. Dennis Citizenship award; Professor John Rubin Award for extraordinary contributions to indigent defense training programs, 2009; John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award, NC State Bar, 2017 for exemplary service to the legal profession; and is the origination of the Student Bar Association “David R. Teddy Innovative Leadership and Service Award”.

David is a NCAJ past president and is a member of the criminal law section and Hispanic/Latino Division.

He proudly earned his law degree from Campbell Law School and has been a NCAJ member since 1988.
