State Bar Letter To Gov. Cooper and Dr. Mandy Cohen Addresses Vaccination Priority For Private Lawyers
North Carolina State Bar President Barbara Christy sent a letter today to Gov. Cooper and N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen addressing the concerns of private lawyers who must appear in court.
“As you consider the prioritization of vaccinations for those critical frontline workers who are not able to properly social distance in their daily work, we encourage you to be mindful of the significant number of persons who are not employed by state government and are essential to keeping the criminal, civil, and family courts functioning properly.”
NCAJ President David Henson expressed his gratitude to State Bar staff via email.
“Your efforts are much appreciated by our NCAJ members and lawyers across the state. These are critical times for our legal system and protecting the health of lawyers is an essential component of that effort.”
The state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Plan puts workers in the legal field in Phase 2, Group 4. The state is currently executing Phase 1 of its plan.
NCAJ remains engaged in these important conversations concerning the COVID-19 pandemic and its affects on our members.
