NCAJ BOG Votes On Statement Regarding Rule of Law
The Board of Governors of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice voted to issue no statement regarding the rule of law at a special meeting held via Zoom on Friday, June 27. The vote was 21 in favor of no statement, 12 in favor of a statement.
The decision followed months of discussion and consideration and included input from members, sections, caucuses, past presidents, staff and consultants. Board members also considered the comments that members made during a hearing on the question held at Annual Meeting in Charlotte on Thursday, June 19 at the Omni Charlotte Hotel.
NCAJ President Kevin Bunn expressed his thanks to everyone who was part of the process.
“This discussion has been a long and sometimes arduous process, but it’s been important for our organization to have it,” he said. “I am grateful for all of my colleagues who took their time to contribute, who put themselves and their convictions out there. At the end of the day, we remain dedicated to the cause of furthering justice and empowering a strong community of trial lawyers, and I encourage us to continue to do that together.”
