George R. “Pete” Clary III Deceased

Pete Clary, the first chief public defender for Forsyth County, died Jan. 13 at age 71. He was an NCAJ member from 2003 to 2015 and belonged to the Criminal Defense Section. Clary attended UNC-Chapel Hill and UNC-Charlotte as an undergraduate and he earned his law degree at Campbell School of Law. He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
