Senior Director of Outreach & Engagement
Josh McIntyre joined the NCAJ team at the start of 2023. He is an attorney who brings over a decade of membership, marketing and operational experience in legal support and association management.
As senior director of outreach & engagement, McIntyre supervises membership and member services, sections, divisions and caucuses, diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, research and the NCAJ NEXT Leadership Program. He also assists in staff-related governance matters and special projects.
Prior to this role, McIntyre served as the director of policy and network advancement for the National Council of Teachers of English, where he managed legislative agendas and partnerships at federal and state levels and coordinated nationwide professional learning opportunities. Before working at NCTE, he directed the membership and communities departments for the North Carolina Bar Association, including the association’s annual convention. McIntyre has also worked with students, professors and law school administrators in bar exam preparation and professional licensing requirements across the eastern United States as a senior director at Kaplan Bar Review.
A proud “double Tar Heel,” McIntyre studied public relations at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s journalism school and returned to his alma mater to attain his juris doctor. He began his legal career practicing in the areas of civil litigation and criminal defense in Wilmington.
McIntyre serves as an officer in the Sixteenth Judicial District and Durham Bar Association, a board member on the Durham Expunction and Restoration Program and is a member of the University of North Carolina School of Law’s Advancement Committee. His wife, Sarah, practices family law, and they both enjoy hiking along the Eno River with their toddler and four-legged best friend.
