Public charge for Non-Immigration lawyers: What you need to know about whether your immigrant clients can access benefits without concern

This LIVE WEBINAR qualifies for 1.0 CLE hour. Registrants will be e-mailed a link to view the webinar along with program materials 24 hours in advance of the presentation.

Have your clients ever expressed concern to you that either they or their children should not use a certain benefit program because it might prevent them from getting a green card in the future?  Join Kate Woomer-Deters for this webinar that will explain the “public charge” rule to lawyers who may interact frequently with immigrant clients, but are not themselves immigration experts.  We will discuss what the rule is, and how it might affect whether your immigrant clients and their family members should or should not access benefit programs such as Medicaid, the ACA, SNAP, SSDI, unemployment benefits, and more.  We will also discuss the ups-and-downs of policy changes and court challenges in the recent years of the Trump and Biden administrations, and the current status of the rule.
