Biography: Graduated from the College of Charleston in 1987 with a double major in French and Business Administration;Is a cum laude graduate of the NCCU School of Law where she also served on the Law Review; Admitted to the NC State Bar, Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of the US Federal Courts; Has appeared before the NC Ct of Appeals and the 4th Circuit Federal Ct. of Appeals. Prior to attending law school, was employed in the banking industry for over ten years. She later owned and managed a staffing agency, a consulting and strategic firm; and held licenses and certificates in the areas of mediation, insurance, retirement and investment planning, including Life & Health Insurance, Series 6 & 63 designations. She is published, collaborative civil law trained, speaks on Implicit Bias and holds a Super Lawyer designation. One of few attorneys approved to represent the Hispanic and Women Farmers and Ranchers in the resolution of their USDA Discrimination Claims. A member of the NCBA Labor and Employment Council, where she is also the Collaborative Law Liaison; Also, a former Employment Law Section Chair for NCAJ, currently serves on the NCAJ Board of Governors, serves on its Diversity and Inclusion Task Force and continues to serve on other boards in a variety of community and professional organizations.
